Artist Uncensored

Artist Joseph Abbati advocates for liberation from shame. We reached out because we believe his art inspires individuals of all genders and sexual orientations to embrace an uncensored way of living:

Why do you think heterosexuals are such stiffs about sex?

I attribute it to longstanding puritanical values within straight culture that have dictated societal norms around sexuality for centuries. Open discussions on the topic only emerged in the mid-20th century when scientists began challenging conventional views of sexuality. This evolution faced obstacles until an educated youth initiated the "sexual revolution," bringing issues like gay rights to the forefront of public discourse.

What do you feel is taboo in our culture that really needs to not be?

Our bodies. I believe our culture still considers our bodies taboo, and this perception needs to change. The queer arts have played a crucial role in expressing and exploring this aspect, providing essential insights into understanding ourselves, our gender, and our sexuality.

First thing you’d do if you woke up one day as the opposite sex?

Explore my new gender.  Learn how it works and have sex to understand it.

What was the last book you read?

“Blackouts” by Justin Torres

One item you can't live without?

My computer. Besides my phone, I use it to conceptualize my work, communicate, keep records, make appointments, and organize myself.

If you had to text President Biden an emoji right now, what would it be?

Peace
